Stonewall Columbus hosts the OUTtakes Monthly LGBT Film Screening at Gateway Film Center, 1550 N High Street, and in August they’ll be featuring David Weissman and Bill Weber’s (Cockettes) new documentary We Were Here.
Back in February I highlighted We Were Here in Queer Corner Spotlight (head there to see the trailer), it was gaining popularity on the queer film festival circuit. The film features interviews with the gay men living in San Francisco at the beginning of the AIDS epidemic (late ’70s to early ’80s). It’s the first documentary to delve deep into San Francisco’s history at this specific time period.
The OUTtakes screening is August 4 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $6 and all proceeds benefit Stonewall Columbus. The screening is also sponsored in part by ARC Ohio (formerly Columbus AIDS Task Force).
