I’ve been meaning to dedicate a “Know Thine Enemy” column to Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann for some time now, she’s definitely been on the rampage against gays since she helped found the Tea Party and has been one of the party’s loudest mouth pieces. Most remember her from her ridiculous Tea Party rebuttal to President Obama’s State of the Union address earlier this year. And over the past few months she’s been seen more and more in the media as it’s being predicted that she will be one of the many vying for the chance to run against Obama next year. It’s being reported that she’s planning to officially announce her candidacy for President this month. During Pride month no less.
Here in a CNN clip from end of last year, Anderson Cooper catches her in a lie over her claims that Obama is overspending.
As is expected she’s also pro life, but takes it to another level, saying she believes rape victims and mothers who at risk of dying from childbirth should also be forced to bring their pregnancies to full term. She’s also gone on record supporting the disbandment of every Planned Parenthood across the nation, calling the organization the “LensCrafters of big abortion.”
Now let’s talks about her anti-gay record. We’ll start most recently with her speech at the Faith and Freedom Coalition on Friday, where she praises Minessota for getting the gay-marriage ban on the ballot for 2012 and calls for other states to do the same.
In April she made a trip through Iowa speaking at several places including the University of Iowa, where she told an audience that God told her to introduce a gay marriage ban into the state’s Senate, which is why she did so a few years ago, and congratulated the people for voting out the judges who ruled against Iowa’s gay marriage ban.
MSNBC’s Cenk Uygur recently did a show taking on all of Bachmann’s radical claims during her Iowa trip. He categorically breaks down all of her crazy comments and refutes them each in turn. It’s a definite must watch if you haven’t seen it already.
And I’ll finish with an ironic aside.
Bachmann was at the annual party in NYC celebrating the Time 100 at the end of April where she was spotted getting a picture with Darren Criss from Glee and was asking for Chris Colfer. The two play a gay couple on the show, and Colfer is an out gay man. She said she was getting the picture for her two young daughters who apparently love Glee. The reporter was unsure if she knew what the show was about. I think it’s hilarious that her kids (she’s apparently fostered 23, which may account for her craziness, raising that many kids has to do something bad to your mental capacity) are being taught tolerance and acceptance of LGBT people by watching Glee, while’s she’s off trying to systematically destroy the gay community. Well, at least there’s a chance her kids won’t turn out like her.
This women could be our next President ladies and gentleman. A woman who makes Sarah Palin look like Hilary Clinton. May God have mercy on our souls.
